Samorost2 (QDR008)
Two years ago the web game Samorost became a real scorcher. The original Czech project created by Brno-native designer Jakub Dvorsky from Amanita Design, studio uniquely combines classic animation with some interactive flash elements. The accomplishment is a lovely game based on the simple think-and-click principle that can attract everybody regardless of age or computer games dependance.
Most of world i-zines dealing with gameplay questions but also with experimental visual arts valued Samorost as the most precious flash game on the web. The work was highly appreciated worldwide and earned nomination for the prestigious Webby Awards 2004.
Now the follow-up part of the successful project arrives. Samorost2 presents the pixie as a main character of the story again. You can try to help to save his doggie kidnapped by crafty aliens landing on the pixie's garden to steal his pears. Besides the gameplay we ought to point out the audio segment of the CD too. The original soundtrack was written by no one else than Tomas Dvorak aka Floex who came out with his stunning debut album titled Pocustone on Quazi Delict Records four years ago – need to throw in that the release turned out to be absolutely essential for Czech modern electronic scene. The CD contains the both variants (PC and Mac) of the game full version. Samorost2 is out now on Quazi Delict Records :::

S.O.I.L. :: In Fields (QDR007)
'S.O.I.L., clay is a productive material, a potential standing as a base for growth...', says S.O.I.L.'s vocalist Zuzana. The band has been taking shape for two years having toured around Czech clubs and festivals yet now they seem to capture their own resulting form on the debut album 'In Fields'.
Their style range is pretty wide - jazz, funk, soul, ambient, psychedelia plus other features build together an organic entirety. The album contains brand new material predominately but also three well-proof however totally rearranged songs such as 'Love Is Freaky', 'Ready' and 'Closer'. The band that was put together by singer Zuzana Kropacova tend to rather authentic, live-friendly sound. Check it out :::

Orff Brothers now presented visually too – video "Na hadim ocase"
If you have a chance to browse through Czech TV channels and you are searching for some music you should encounter Orff Brothers. The album opening track 'Na hadim ocase' gets a nice video deriving benefit from both balance and contrast between the character of music and pictures - shot in Paris by Jaro Ridzon from the Slovak band Frogski Pop.
The video ought to be seen on TV Ocko channel as well as on Czech TV :::

The Orff Brothers listed in the official Czech albums chart!
What a surprise! The mid-February official IFPI Czech albums chart features The Orff Brothers with their 'Bingriwingri'.
Nr.71 does not challenge opening champagne yet the simple fact that for a very first time independent QDR appear at the official chart among majors can be found as a success though. And we take the gaff even if such names as Karel Gott or Crazy Frog adjoin :::

Nomination for Andel Allianz Music Awards 2005
Our folktronicians seem to surf on air waves very skillfully so far – in January they were charted on high positions f.i. on Radio 1 Prague, Radio Proglas or Radio Student. Czech Internet Music Awards set up by Musicserver.cz bring great expectations for The Orffs who have been nominated even in several national categories: Band, Song (actually twice!), Album, Newcomer and Album cover. If you found yourself fancy you can vote HERE till 5th March.
And one more just 'seraphic' nomination: a designer Jirka Libansky is for 'Bingriwingri' nominee for the category Cover of the year in Andel Allianz Music Awards 2005! Unfortunately you cannot vote here if you are not listed among Academy of Czech Pop Music members. Anyway you can keep fingers crossed with us. The ceremony is scheduled to be held for March 12 :::

Next album on Quazi Delict: S.O.I.L.
YES, time to reveal finally. We are proud to announce that a Prague based band S.O.I.L. moving between jazz, post-rock and pop which does not stand for Czech club audience as an unfamiliar name will release their much anticipated album debut with Quazi Delict Records. Expect prevailing brand new material and sound supervision by band itself. The release date is scheduled for April – May 2006 :::

Alvik and Orff Brothers: two invitations to Palac Akropolis
Welcome in 2006! January is often considered a slack period, but we do not concede such preconceptions and dare to invite you to two gigs at a time! Both take place in the famous Palac Akropolis venue in Prague.
First up is on Jan 10 when the Czech-Norwegian-American band Alvik rejoins in Prague after a several months break. The core of the band remains the same: Mishan with his battery, Anya behind the mic, double-bass player Petr Tichý and Audun Nedrelid of Norway on the keys as a continual special guest. Bharata Rajnosek will be playing the sax, trumpet and flute, and becomes a new member, expected to push the sound further. Alvik will be headlining that night – which is something they can afford as they’ve filled the venue before several times.
Jan 25 is the 'Bingriwingri' album release party. The Orff Brothers already had their premiere live gig, however that one was held in the city of Krnov – their home ground – and was a sort of a test run. Will the audience in Prague accept our folktronicians? The buzz around their debut album might indicate the strike home so you better not ride your luck and book the ticket on time. As the gig is a part of the EuroConnections series, expect one more act – Jersey from Berlin, featuring members of such bands as The Notwist or Lali Puna, which promises a compact night style-wise. For more info click on www.palacakropolis.cz :::

Quazi Delict becoming a partner of Streetforward!
A significant part of the QDR catalogue is now available for paid download through an Austrian website www.streetforward.com. As if that wasn’t enough – the intriguing project enables you to choose tracks from the Streetforward database, consisting of primarily electronic music, and create your own customized CD. The service is very reasonably priced, and in addition you get to choose from a variety of different sleeve artworks. All transparent and lucid.
Quazi Delict Records feature in the database among such respected European labels as G-Stone, Klein, Combination, Ecco Chamber, Pulver, Santorin, Unique and many others. Two QDR tracks (Floex ~ Phi_log and Alvik ~ Beat::Skip – Reynok rmx) appear on the December Recommended Compilation on the main page :::

Orff Brothers :: Bingriwingri (QDR006)
You have probably noticed the new addition to the Quazi Delict Records back-catalogue already, but let us remind you once again…
The debut album of the Prague-based The Orff Brothers (Bratri Orffove) entered the stores at the end of October. The CD indeed isn’t being neglected by music buyers, which obviously makes us happy and fills our indie souls with optimism. You should be able to get hold of it easily through our website (Discography section).
Since the beginning we have been aware of the talent and the potential The Orff Brothers possesed, still we were taken aback by such positive (even enthusiastic) feedback from both listeners and reviewers. We are indeed very happy about it; thank you! You can find selected reviews and articles in the Text/Press section (in Czech only, sorry) :::

Orff Brothers flying 'By Air' over Akropolis
We are proud to announce the first airplay chart score! A month before their debut album release Orff Brothers reach Top 3 of internet Radio Akropolis with their single 'Vzduchem' (By Air) :::

Alvik live in European air
We are proud to announce a really special news: On Fri Sep 30 2005 Alvik Live Orchestra performs at the studio A of Czech Broadcasting in Prague – Karlin.
The concert is a part of Euroradio Jazz Season 2005-2006 and of Prague – City of Music project. Thanks to European Broadcasting Union (EBU) Czech Broadcasting 3 Vltava will be transmitting the show to Slovenia, Denmark, Latvia, Greece and Sweden plus radio stations in Netherlands, Croatia, Switzerland, Spain and Poland will be broadcasting the recording of the gig afterwards.
Cities Of Music is a concept challenging four involved metropolises (besides Prague also Zagreb, Roma and Amsterdam at this season) to presenting their own music honors during one week. Symphonic as well as chamber music, ancient music, organ recital, opera, modern contemporary music and jazz will be included in the concert series broadcasted from Prague through EBU satellite network. European Jazz Season listeners can listen to Alvik performing in following line-up: Mishan – drums, Anya – vocals, Bharata – trumpet, Audun – keyboards and Petr – double bass. And as usually at such special occasions some reliable guests will not be missing: pianist Emil Viklicky and Apollon Quartet are expected to forward the Alvik sound to even more abstract shape.
The event will be captured visually too as Paskvil program (CT2 channel) crew will be taking the profile material about the band. The concert is transmitted by Czech Broadcast 3 Vltava (in Prague 105 FM) and other European radio stations on 30th September at 10:30 pm CET :::

Orff Brothers: completion of the new album
A new fish caught in our trawl is lashing about pretty friskily but not yet not briskly enough according to the schedule. However let's be fair ~ considering the fact all the Orff crew have been extremly busy, completing works on the 'Bingriwingri' album they have actually kept going at quite a heroic tempo. Moreover the recent leaks from the studio where Matucha is working hard on the final mixes, sounds more than promising, so we are starting to be really eager for the finished product.
Jirka 'Liba' Libansky is beating his brain over the cover artwork ~ well, you won't be put off with some handsome plastic standard ~ and Tomas Lunak is the man who was given the task to make a video for 'Sova' ~ both have proven their qualities having cooperated with such Czech bands like Here or Umakart.
As Matucha is intending to leave for Barcelona for a certain time straight after finishing the mixes the other two guys Lukas and Ivanek will need to resolve the live show business by themselves. The sooner the better we think, as the initial gig proposals have begun to appear. Meanwhile 'Vzduchem' has become domesticated through alternative radio airplay ~ so we should have plenty to do until the album release at the end of October :::

Alvik ain't sleeping: Love Planet, the whole of Europe in one hit, workroom... and summer
Recently separated in different world locations yet not sleeping – in just a few hours the Alvik members will regroup back with an up-to-date Czech-American-Norwegian line-up to kick-off day two of one of the most essential Czech music festivals this year – Love Planet and right on the main stage. Meet us in the crowd at the airfield near Tabor @ 1pm on Sat Aug 13.
And that's not all - at all. Keep in mind the date Sep 30th when a very special performance initiated by Czech Broadcast 3 - Vltava's literary adviser Ales Opekar is scheduled to happen. The gig will be transmitted alongside our CRo3-Vltava by almost all other European public stations thanks to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). More info is to come, at this moment we can only deliver the reliable very special guests Apollon Quartet. Emil Viklicky will not be missing so the concert will run in a rather 'jazzier' shape than usual.
Plus finally one more positive news point: Mishan has started to hint at new material being created so the shed for his machines is not only of service as a shelter against the hot sunrays (since recent days he should rather make a fire) that his band members were enjoying a lot lately. We have been asked to give you best regards for the rest of summer holiday :::

xmag.cz ::: Czech drum'n'bass lives!
Unbelievable doings happening at the local scene lately. More pivotal albums have been released within the past two years than there've been in the 10-year history of independent Czech Republic. New music is coming out continuously, streching across genres, attracting listeners abroad. And I don't mean just the neighboring Germany and Austria but also the UK or Japan. The most talked-about names lately have been Juanita Juarez and Ecson Waldes....

rave.cz ::: Hurried debut of the spa boy?
Interesting how Czech media treated the young producer and DJ Juanita Juarez: first tagged as the best newcomer, subsequently a 'hope' and these days he's thought of as the 'future of Czech d'n'b' or a person that could break through abroad. All hopes and expectations were to materialize (or be contradicted) on the reviewed album. How did the "next big thing" cope with such expectations? ....

Stonedhigh reviewed by Knowledge magazine
Stonedhigh aka Touchwood is another successful local producer. He's released three singles on Stoika and have been reviewed in drum'n'bass #1 mag KNOWLEDGE.
:: Knowledge Magazine said :: Another Czech Republic producer, this time DJ Touchwood aka Stonedhigh, rolling out two fine slices of techno-influenced d&b on his third outing for Stoika. Imagine Aphex Twin and Rerpazent in the studio together.

Juanita Juarez in UK magazines
Juanita finally hits UK magazines. In March issue of Muzik and Knowledge magazine too he got very high reviews. Check it out!
:: MUZIK Magazine said :: Who'd have thought that the next wave of Brazilian drum & bass would come from Prague? I'm In is a pleasant enough piece of Hospital-style funk, but it's Seen It All that glitters through the air like Sao Paulo sunlight. Like DJ Patife crossed with Roni Size, the techy sounds and beats are lit up by an enchanting little keyboards shimmy. Beautiful.
:: Knowledge Magazine said :: With its jazzy piano licks and a sturdy breakbeats, it's not surprising that I'm In has become a favourite in XRS's sets, while the slightly sturdier Seen It All is every bit as loveable. Prague is definitely running things at the moment.

After being featured on a Czech representative sampler "Unpragued" (Geo, 2002) Floex is very likely going to be chanced upon through his song Phi_log on another compilation which is just being put together in Japan. The album (tentative title is "Ma") is to be compiled by well established Japanese artist Kama Aina, a member of bands such as Double Famous and Little Creatures, for likable P-Vine Recs. A provisional tracklist promises to put Floex besides various internationally renomed artists - if you insist on hearing some, here you are: Coco Steal And Lovebomb, Mum, To Rococo Rot, Lali Puna, Receiver or Suns of Arqa. The compilation is supposed to be out later on this year, unfortunatelly in Japan only.

cool, electric cool - a video for 'Understand'
Our first TT22 release will be accompanied by a video of its own -- E.C.A. decided to shoot the video DIY-wise. The filming will take place on January 25, 2003 and the content remains a secret even to us. The only thing we know is the guys have been collecting boots, ropes, glasses, and other montaing climbing equipment... an action scene will it be? o)

Juanita wins the Single of the Month in the Xmag magazine!
It seems Juanita's shiny EP warmed the cocles of the heart of Xmag's editors, because it has been elected the Single of the Month in the current issue. And since this is a December-January double issue, we're actually dealing with a Single of the Two Months...(:oD) Well anyways, we really appreciate this award... peace & love

Alvik bring peace
Already looking forward to hearing Alvik's debut album - coming out on QDR sometime next year. If Dzihan+Kamien, Fila Brazillia and the likes are your cup of tea, then hold on to your pants! You can hear the band's mellow 'Ballad in Paris' on air - a regular fixture in Prague's Radio 1. In case you follow Prague's music scene, you might've spotted a poster for one of their past concerts. Honza Muchow, a respected electronica musician, invited Alvik over to support his own EOST band's tour that has just finished. So the next chance to hear Alvik live is 25 January 2003 in Lucerna movie theatre - Alvik will perform as part of the C-Lounge party. Check www.alvik.cz in the meantime…

Floex sets Crossroad to music
Already during finishing his first ever album Floex was mentioning his interest in new, interactive and multimedial approaches within art. Crossroads exhibit proves the 24-year old new media student @ The Academy of Fine Arts in Prague was in dead earnest - Crossroads can now be seen within a Czech exhibit in France (called 'Česká sezóna') from end of October 2002 through January 2003 @ the gallery Espace Electra in Paris. We're dealing with a very extraordinary project; Tomas (Floex) explains: "The music in this installation is generated on the basis of the colours of the cars that meet on the crossroads. There are four cameras installed close to traffic lights, and they sample the cars' colours. As the vehicles pass by, they create an ever changing musical composition. The crossroads itself in fact becomes a musician. On a metaphorical level, the crossroads can be seen as a musical symbol - a place of encounter that creates relations, a place which transforms chaos into an organised system."
Together with two other young artists Petra Vargova and Federico Diaz, Tomas had the honour of presenting Czech art alongside masterminds like Pesanek, Malina, Sykora, Vashulka or Bielicky. If all goes well, Crossroads should move to Prague in half of 2003.

TT22 volume 002 - A transatlantic cooperation
The first TT22 twelveincher has only just come out, and we're already bringing you the lowdown about the 002! Release date, title and the actual tracks are just slowly shaping up, what is for sure though is that E.C.A. will join forces with our NYC-based Pavel Bidlo (Yoshitoshi Rcds.) to produce this one.

Pocustone being released in Japan and Germany
After releases in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, German and Japan audience can now appreciate Floex's "optimistic - melancholic" debut album entitled 'Pocustone'. Former manager of the infamous Japanese 'United Future Organization' band, Yoichu Ito, fell in love with this record after having received it from a Czech dub DJ and producer Yukimura. Pocustone is distributed in Japan by Ito's own Bridge, Inc.. At the same time, Ito licenced two other Czech producers' longplayers - ZKA4T and Hypnotix - for his label Geo. Releases of the three albums in Japan are preceded by a compilation with a fitting name - 'Unpragued'; besides the above mentioned artists it features Naceva, Radium NFO, Here or EOST…
Floex's album also caught the attention of the German Public Propaganda distribution, whose catalog features labels like Compost or Hospital. The exact release date if not known as of yet, it should be in the beginning of 2003.

Juanita Juarez's debut album to drop soon
Lukas Turza aka Juanita Juarez is finishing his first album! The final tracklisting hasn't been confirmed yet, but we can promise a diverse and positive wicked album, slightly dominated by drum'n'bass. DJ 2K, who's at the same time a skilled painter, is currently working on the album's cover. The album is due out in March 2003 -- under QDR, indeed!

Floex in Y2K+3 :: three videos and a 'Tomatucha' project
Floex's projection seen during his band's gigs will be the basis for the video to the 'Pinky Pong' tune. Borivoj Horinek, Petr Slobodzian and Floex are adding finishing touches to the original Flash animation, decribed as "a game - fight against underwater plankton that transforms kids into things of everyday use". The rather adventurous video will be presented to Czech and Japanese TV audience in the beginning of 2003. Information on the two other videos Floex's got in the pipeline are scarce. We only know they are not videos to any of the Pocustone tunes and they are created tegether with Eallin animation studios (videos for Priessnitz or The Ecstasy Of Saint Theresa). Don't expect a new Floex album next year, since Floex will be teaming up with ZKA4T to work on their joint project 'Tomatucha'.

Hustokop on the Pure Future compo
Hustokop, E.C.A.'s new single, caught the attention of Josef Sedlon (Prague Radio 1's moderator, tech-house-breaks DJ and promoter) upon the first listen. He made a mixed compilation Pure Future for Xmag magazine's supplemental CD (issue December - January) and put Manio and DaRoddmann (aka E.C.A.) alongside names like Bushwacka, David Thomase or Koma And Bones.

Fourth Stoika ST12004 :: JUANITA JUAREZ
November 28 was the release date of Stoika's fourth EP to date. Brand spankin' new to the Prague D&B scene is ther fierce and steady Lukas Turza aka Juanita Juarez with a taste of the summer vibe. The A-side I'm In, represents the more recent JJ works - a clever funky roller that raises straight up after a colossal opening drop giving DJs a clever and practical tool. Brazilian XRS adores this cut! Seen It All, the flip, is coming on as a d'n'b classic piece, opening with precision jazzy piano riffs. The awesomely filtered bass then takes center stage. Take this 12" is the final warning prior to the debut release of Juanita Juarez expected this March as the Full length Quazi Delict release of 2003.

TT22 records: A NEW shelter for techhouse and breaks fans
# kicking off with E.C.A. #

Stoika sublabel gets a new sibling - TT22 Records. While Stoika releases 170 bpm centered vinyl, TT22 becomes a techhouse and breakbeat imprint. The label kicks off with E.C.A.'s Hustokop / Understand - E.C.A. has previously created a buzz with "There Is a Message" EP (Lighthouse Rcds.) and their live performances. TT22001 unveils deep and tribal thumping track on one side (Hustokop), and a breakbeat tune with solid bass and vocal snippet on the flip (Understand). Distributed through vinyl.cz. TT22's launch party will také place in the middle of Januar '03 in Radost FX, Prague.

Floex's track to feature on a canadian label again
After having placed our Floex's tune on the ambient 'Infinessence' sampler, the downtempo connoiseurs Interchill Records gave credence to Floex's Phi Log to feature on their new Earth Octave Lounge compilation. This time around, it ranges artists from all over the world - besides Floex you'll encounter producers from UK, Romania, USA or Japan.

Stoika no.3 : Stonedhigh strikes again!
After a year of silence, Stoika drum'n'bass imprint offers you a new EP. It bears the name of our most experienced d&b producer, DJ Touchwood aka Stonedhigh. Both tracks are ace - Shluk is a massively energetic piece featuring a fine, pulsing sub. Don't get Damage Done wrong - you'll get no damage; in fact it's a pleasant and melodic addition to any colourful DJ set. Distributed through Vinyl.cz.

PRIESSNITZ:: Zorro (zero rmxs)
„Priessnitz have been always one of my favorite indies", claims DJ Blue - who together with his tandem fellow Clad participates on a collection of remixes titled Zorro - zero rmxs. This is definitely not a regular Priessnitz release. It should be more taken as a proof of healthy relationship across the music genres or a kind of big up to one true living legend. As the title advices original versions appear on the last Priessnitz album „Zero". The artists called on for their reshaping contributions to Zorro represent the actual biggest talents (Floex, Indy + Wich, E.C.A) as well as already highly respected producers (EOST, Bullerbyne) on the Czech scene. The CD features an audio-visual track.

The video brings a new poetic dimension thanks to director Tomas Lunak and Eallin Animation studios.

The album was produced by Quazi Delict for New Gate Records.

FLOEX - PHI-LOG / POINTILICE RMXS 12" STOIKA RECORDS
Currently releasing vinyl with remixes from the Floex´s debut album "Pocustone". Featuring remixes of Dj Touchwood and Mimon.

FLOEX :: Pocustone CD (QDR002)
Yes, it took a long time, yet worth the wait for. After more than two years of busy work on a proper debut long play Tomáš Dvorak aka FLOEX can take a rest - the Pocustone album is finally out.
Pocustone goes on a kind of risky journey bridging relatively isolated islands such as electronica, jazz or modern contemporary music. This may stand as quite a wild scheme yet this combination works and comunicates to a listener. An unusual sound results in a very delicate instrumentation combining digital technology with the charm of wood instruments.
